OM MANI PADME HUM (123x)
While you dance and sing, all will work together in one flow.
For all my Buddhist friends, and Martijn and Ton (hi there 😊), I created this 7:35-minute track that turned out to be quite a danceable and embracing tune. Unfortunately, the final mix sounds a bit tinny, so I used some high-voltage dance vibes for the cover background. Still, the track received quite a bit of play in the US and Canada. I think I’ll redo it later with a more spacious and atmospheric feel.
A small explanation:
Om mani padme hum, properly written as Om manipadmé hum, is the most recited mantra in Tibetan Buddhism. It’s an invocation of the bodhisattva Avalokitesvara, the (holder of the) Jewel-Lotus.
The mantra is associated with the bodhisattva Avalokiteshvara (known as Chenrezig in Tibetan), the being who sees compassion everywhere. The six syllables are seen as a path to purification:
– Om (ॐ) – the sacred sound, the universal vibration, often linked to the purification of the body. For cleansing pride and ego.
– Mani (मणि) – means “jewel” or “gem.” Purifies speech.
– Padme (पद्मे) – means “in the lotus.” Purifies ignorance.
– Hum (हूं) – represents the mind or heart; a sound of strength, closure, and realization. Purifies anger and lower passions.
Wishing all will flow in tune with your heart,
