Connecting with Green Tara: A Journey into Compassion and Wisdom

Posted on July 22, 2024 by Sri Veer

Good morning, dear ones. As the first rays of light touch the earth, we greet the dawn with our hearts full of devotion and sincere intent. This is the sacred moment we connect with the divine, clearing our minds and opening our spirits to wisdom and compassion.

I remember one serene morning in my practice when I felt completely aligned with Green Tara. It was as though her serene, compassionate essence enveloped me, guiding every breath and every intention. In such moments, we are reminded that these deities are not distant, abstract notions but living realities that guide and protect us.

Imagine the profound beauty of being intimately connected with Green Tara. Each chant of her mantra is like placing a step onto a path laid out by her infinite compassion and wisdom. When you visualize Green Tara, feel her presence as warm light entering your being, dissolving obstacles and fear, and filling you with boundless blessings. This practice is not merely a ritual; it is an opportunity to invite divine energies into our lives, transforming our very essence.

I recently came across an insightful teaching on the 84,000 website, which resonates deeply with this practice.

The beauty of sadhana practice lies in its ability to bridge the mundane and the divine. By visualizing Green Tara or any other deity, we create a sacred space where the divine can manifest in our lives. This practice is akin to drawing water from a well; the more sincere and focused our efforts, the purer and more abundant the blessings we receive.

According to Buddhist scholar Asaṅga, the process of visualizing deities serves as a profound method to cultivate bodhicitta and deepen our understanding of emptiness. By seeing the deity as both separate and part of us, we transcend notions of ego and duality. Similarly, Thangtong Gyalpo emphasized the healing power of deity visualization in his works, suggesting that this practice can purify past karma and lead to spiritual liberation.

This practice is vividly illustrated by the works of Chokyi Nyima and Patrul Rinpoche. Chokyi Nyima often stresses the importance of devoting time to deity visualization to cultivate inner peace and clarity. Meanwhile, Patrul Rinpoche’s teachings provide a detailed approach to visualizations that dissolve dualities and lead practitioners toward the realization of ultimate truth.

By wholeheartedly engaging in the visualization of Green Tara, not only do we receive her blessings, but we also step closer to our inherent enlightened nature. Let this practice be a daily reminder of our boundless potential for compassion and wisdom.

May each breath you take today be a step toward enlightenment. May you find protection, peace, and profound transformation in your practice.

With heartfelt wishes,
sri Veer
